Contract: permanent

Salary: £54,924.00 - £60,619.00 (Leadership 2 - Leadership 6)

Why Choose Walliscote Primary School?

Walliscote is a vibrant, diverse and welcoming school at the heart of its community. We are proud to serve families from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds, with over 40 languages spoken across our school community and over half of our pupils speaking English as an Additional Language.

We celebrate and value diversity and cultural heritage through all aspects of school life, including events such as black history month, Eid and Christmas, ensuring that every child feels seen, valued and represented.

Community is central to who we are. We have developed strong partnerships with local theatres, businesses, charities and community organisations, creating rich experiences and opportunities for our children beyond the classroom.

As part of ELAN, we benefit from being one of nine schools located in North Somerset. This provides extensive opportunities for collaboration, professional development, networking and support from experienced colleagues within our schools and central team.

This is a significant non-class based leadership opportunity for an ambitious and compassionate leader who wants to make a real difference. Our school has a high proportion of pupils with SEND, including a growing number of pupils with complex needs and EHCPs, making this a varied, challenging and highly rewarding role.

You Will:

  • Provide strategic leadership for SEND, EAL and Children in Care.
  • Lead and develop inclusive practice across the school.
  • Support staff in meeting the needs of an increasingly diverse range of learners.
  • Work closely with families, external agencies and trust colleagues.
  • Be a key member of the senior leadership team, helping to shape the future direction of the school.
  • Ensure that all pupils, particularly our most vulnerable learners, achieve success and develop a strong sense of belonging.
  • Have significant experience of SEND leadership and inclusion.
  • Understand the opportunities and challenges of working within a diverse community.
  • Have a strong commitment to equity, belonging and removing barriers to learning.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, staff and external partners.
  • Can inspire and develop colleagues.
  • Have the vision, resilience and determination to continue driving improvement.
  • Be an outstanding teacher with high expectations for all pupils.

What We Can Offer

  • A talented, caring and supportive team.
  • A strong family ethos and welcoming community.
  • Supportive networks within both the school and across the trust.
  • A diverse and inclusive environment where everyone is valued and respected.
  • Quality, ongoing professional development and network opportunities, with clear pathways for career growth, enabling you to learn new skills and enhance your teaching practice.

Walliscote Primary School has been on an exciting journey of improvement and development. We are proud of what has been achieved, but we are equally ambitious about what comes next. This role offers the opportunity to build on strong foundations whilst helping to shape the future of inclusion across our school and make a real difference.

Visits to the school are warmly encouraged, to arrange a visit or discuss the role, please contact the school office.
